Dance in Wellbeing: A film made for Newcastle Arts Development Team exploring of the benefits of dance for the elderly.
Not only are there physical benefits in terms of circulation and breathing, joint flexibility and stamina, but there are also positive gains int terms of mental health and preventing social exclusion. Dancer Virginia Kennedy teaches classes through out the north guides the audience through the positive value of dance for the elderly.
"It is always a combination of mental, emotional and physical understanding and it is nothing to do with age. The key is in the enjoyment and the continued needs of the teacher and the pupil."
